About North Wales Amateur Radio Group

NWARG was formed by a few members in November of 2019 with an ethos of radio friendship, this idea started its life meeting at a local café and soon more interest was gained it was decided a proper meeting venue was needed and this was found and NWARG held its first club night .

As time went on the club gained more members ad held weekly meetings the club started to take part and hold special event stations, became RSGB affiliated and also became an RSGB exam centre and started to teach people new to the hobby with a very high success rate.

We then had COVID and lockdowns but this did not stop the club as a member held weekly nets known locally as Jacks net on the local repeater this was popular and still continues to this day .

Once restrictions had been lifted the club started to meet again and the club grew strength to strength with summer BBQs & Christmas parties and more including a very close bond with 2 other club located in Flintshire and the Wirral.

Due to the continued growth of the club it was decided we needed to find a bigger venue in November 2023 and we held our first meeting in new venue at the start of December.

As we went in the start of 2024 we have many events planned talks guests from the RSGB Board special event stations and even celebrating one of our members getting his MBE for his contributions.

NWARG also proudly supports the Llandudno Repeater Group who run and maintain the local 2 metre and 70cm Analog & New 70cmDMR repeaters in north wales and continue to support them.
