Have you ever thought about becoming a HAM?

How would you like to have a hobby that allowed you to make contacts and friends all over the world?
How would you like to join a hobby with loads of different avenues for you to explore?
How would you like to join a club that belongs strongly in learning about radio and importantly friendship and support throughout its membership?

Sounds interesting doesn’t it? but what is HAM radio all about? Well put simply Ham Radio, is the use of radio frequency spectrum for purposes of non-commercial exchange of messages, wireless experimentation, self-training, private recreation, radio sport, contesting, and emergency communication.

So how do I find out more about Ham radio and joining North Wales Amateur Radio Group?

We look forward to hearing from you.

I have only just found out about your club which is local to me as I am in Old Colwyn opposite North Wales Police HQ

I just finished module 7 of a 9 mondule foundation course with ESSEX Ham
I am doing OK and will take my exam 23 June 20
I am usually OK with exams ( I do the necessary diligent study ) so expect to pass this first time

I look forward to joining and meeting up with other local Hams to gain practical experience and more insight before making my first equipment purchases and going “live”

I am an absolute novice – with all the questions that brings – would any of your members be willing to put up with me at your club meetings and help with this after COVID 19 shutdown is lifted ?

    Kind regards

    John Hardman

    1. Hi John, thank you for your comments and good luck with your exam on the 23rd June 20. You will find that we are not only a very friendly club but also that we have a membership with a very wide knowledge base that can offer you help and guidance with almost every aspect of amateur radio. Even though we are in Covid-19 lockdown you will find that as a club we are still very much active in many ways including license tuition, special event stations, chat groups, etc and of course we are always more than happy to help new members John. If you message our secretary at secretary@nwarg.org she will send you out a membership pack. Of course you are also more than welcome to join the group website membership too by visiting https://nwarg.org/registration
